IFF, one of the major companies for food ingredients, is seeking a 3 years PhD student in food microbiology / Biochemistry. The PhD work is a collaboration between IFF company and DTU (National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark). The host laboratory at DTU is Microbial Biotechnology and Biorefining. A part of the PhD project will be performed at DTU based in Copenhagen (DK)and a second part at IFF company located in Brabrand (DK) and Dangé-Saint-Romain (Fr).
As PhD student we expect you have knowledge of:
• Practices and principles of basic laboratory operations, techniques and procedures utilized in the areas of microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
• microbial strain improvement techniques and screening techniques
• Safety procedures relating to laboratory microbes as well as potentially hazardous chemicals; appropriate hazardous clean up procedures; universal precautions.
• Computer systems and techniques
Education: Master Degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or graduate degree that is allowing to prepare a PhD.
Language/Written Skills: Ability to write clearly and informatively and present data effectively. Ability to speak effectively in English. French language ability, written and/or speak will be appreciated, Danish language too.
Computer Skills: Individual should have knowledge of work processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to use commercial software for primer design and sequence data analysis is a plus.
